As you may have heard in the media, mediation between the Board of Directors, the Crown and THE CUPE ended without a collective agreement. Your collective bargaining team (CB) is working your behalf as our current collective agreement with ADSB expires on August 31, 2019. On January 31, our CB team will meet with our ETFO Human Resources Manager to discuss and prioritize CB`s core and local issues. In March, all members of our CB team will participate in ETFO workshops focused on developing and building our capabilities in the run-up to the next round of collective bargaining. We will keep you informed during this negotiation process. The following press release was posted on the Algoma District School Board website on Sunday, September 29, 2019, to inform parents that no collective agreement has been reached and that some school services will suffer. This outage does not apply to ADSB schools in Elliot Lake and Blind River. Please note that this information does not apply to Elliot Lake and Blind River schools, as staff at these sites are not members of CUPE. The candidate`s e-mail address: Call 416-962-3836 or 1-888-838-3836 and follow instructions to contact an operator. This workshop focused on preventing workplace injuries. There were two wonderful guest speakers, one of whom talked about surviving a bear attack, and the other talking about work-life balance. A roundtable discussion on the opioid crisis was also held here in Sault Ste Marie.
I have attended workshops on a variety of workplace injury topics, including fatigue, time management and general well-being. The fatigue workshop focused on workers on their way to work during the “tired hours” at 6 a.m. and 3 p.m. The time management workshop was discussed on prioritizing the things we need to do to not burn.
